Chile Mejor sin TLC: “El TPP-11 está muerto, en este gobierno y también en el que viene”

La plataforma de organizaciones rechazó “que el Gobierno intente argucias hasta el final para hacer aprobar el tratado” y recalcó que “el pueblo de Chile ya se pronunció: el TPP-11 debe ser retirado del Congreso”.

A pesar de que durante su periodo el gobierno del presidente Sebastián Piñera intentó en varias ocasiones la aprobación del TPP-11, esto finalmente no ha sucedido. De este modo, Chile es el único país del mundo donde este tratado no se aprobado por la movilización ciudadana, que en estos años ha logrado evidenciar sus nocivas consecuencias en sectores como salud, agricultura y pensiones, entre otros, así como las amarras que supone en general para la soberanía política del país.

Ante el evidente rechazo de la ciudadanía al proyecto, las bancadas con representación en el Senado acordaron no cursar la votación en sala, a pesar de las constantes presiones del Gobierno, la última ocurrida hace pocos días, cuando se le renovó la urgencia a pesar de que el Parlamento está a punto de terminar su periodo legislativo.

Lucía Sepúlveda, de Rap-Chile señaló que “hasta el final y lamentablemente Piñera gobierna para los empresarios y las trasnacionales. Hemos tenido un presidente corporativo y amigo de las grandes fortunas que controlan Chile. El rechazo al TPP-11, mayoritario entre los pueblos, representa entre otras cosas un rechazo a todo lo que representa su gobierno”.

Esteban Silva, de la Fundación Constituyente XXI, hizo hincapié en que “el país se ha dado un tiempo y un espacio para repensar su institucionalidad y sus políticas. Piñera ha intentado hasta el final empujar el TPP-11 antes del proceso constituyente, pero el pueblo ha sido claro en su rechazo. Es importante que esa reflexión mayor sobre los tratados de libre comercio se dé en el seno de la Convención sin presiones corporativas, antes de innovar en esta materia”.

Por otra parte, María Cecilia Bartholin recordó que “los grandes cambios que se defendieron por sectores mayoritarios de la población en las calles antes y después del 18 de octubre del 2019 en Chile (educación, salud, jubilación, agua, pesca, etc.), y que son parte de lo que queremos en una nueva constitución, serían fuertemente cuestionados utilizando el argumento de considerarlos expropiatorios”.

La Plataforma Chile Mejor sin TLC aprovechó de alertar sobre los problemas que en general están contenidos en los tratados de nueva generación, como la actualización del TLC con la Unión Europea. Al respecto, Lucía Sepúlveda señaló que “dejar atrás el TPP-11 con el nuevo gobierno debería implicar también detener la renegociación con la Unión Europea y esperar al menos que la Convención Constitucional se pronuncie sobre lo que planteamos desde siempre: los tratados deben respetar la soberanía de los pueblos y sus derechos. Además, deben renegociarse en forma transparente y no secreta y eventualmente llegar a un plebiscito ratificatorio si se hubiera evaluado que son convenientes para los intereses del país. No sería prudente que el inicio del gobierno de Boric desconozca estos puntos”.
