Gael Yeomans y Claudia Mix, diputadas electas del Frente amplio expresaron su rechazo ante la firma del TPP-11 por las negativas consecuencias que tendría para los chilenos y chilenas, además consideraron grave que este tratado haya sido discutido a espaldas de la ciudadanía.

El Tratado Integral y Progresista de Asociación Transpacífico, más conocido como TPP-11, es un acuerdo económico internacional que pese a que compromete una gran variedad de temas de políticas públicas, el Gobierno chileno no ha dado espacio a la ciudadanía para participar en un debate democrático ni se han evaluado las consecuencias que tendría su aplicación en la vida de la ciudadanía.

Frente a la próxima firma de este tratado de libre comercio las diputadas electas del Frente Amplio  Claudia Mix y Gael Yeomans expresaron su rechazo y preocupación por la falta de información y poca transparencia que ha tenido gobierno al discutir este acuerdo.

Por su parte Claudia Mix ​indicó que “los TLC impactan directamente en la soberaní​a de los pueblos y busca subordinarla al sistema financiero, a la especulación económica, a ponernos al servicio de las divisas más que poner a los estados y sus economías al servicio de la gente” mencionó. También comentó que le parece grave que se insista en la firma de un acuerdo de esta  magnitud discutido a espaldas de la gente.

Por su parte, Gael Yeomans concordó con la opinión de su compañera de bancada en cuanto a la gravedad de que este tratado haya sido discutido a espaldas de la sociedad y de las organizaciones.

De igual forma, la diputada electa por el distrito 13 comentó que el TPP-11 “va a tener consecuencias para el mundo de la microagricultura, en donde desde las políticas públicas no existe un impulso a generar diálogo y ver sus necesidades sólo ha existido diálogo con las grandes empresas. Y este daño a la micro agricultura afectará principalmente a las mujeres quienes son las que más se hacen cargo del cuidado de la tierra que hoy en nuestro país tampoco es considerado” y agregó que “en definitiva lo que hemos estado viendo es que se intenta aprobar políticas que llevan a impulsar esta economía que sirve sólo a la minoría que nos sigue gobernando y los más afectados somos la mayoría”.
