Estudiantes Universidad de Chile: Por la soberanía de los pueblos, No al TPP-11

Plebiscito estudiantil sobre el TPP-11 indica que el 92% de los votantes rechaza el TPP-11 y alumnos exigen que la rectoría se pronuncie en contra del tratado.

Este lunes la Federación de estudiantes (FECH) y la Secretaría de ecología y medioambiente (SECMA) de la Universidad de Chile en compañía de diferentes organizaciones sociales, dieron a conocer los resultados del plebiscito que buscaba saber la postura de los alumnos y alumnas respecto al Tratado Integral y Progresista de Asociación Transpacífico (TPP-11).

La votación indicó que: “de 9.569 estudiantes, un 92% de ellas y ellos manifestaron su rechazo a la aprobación de este acuerdo comercial”, por lo que exigen a Rectoría que, con previa aprobación del Senado Universitario, declare públicamente el rechazo a la ratificación del TPP-11 en el Senado. Además, los alumnos levantaron un lienzo en la fachada de la Universidad con la frase: “Por la soberanía de los pueblos, No al TPP-11”.

Emilia Schneider, presidenta interina de la FECH, declaró que gran cantidad de los estudiantes se manifiestan en rechazo al TPP-11 a través de este plebiscito “por ser una política que viene a afectar la soberanía de los pueblos y también por atentar contra la democracia y las necesidades de las mayorías en nuestro país. En ese sentido consideramos muy importante que como FECH y como estudiantes nos pronunciemos y nos hagamos parte para que este rechazo social se escuche en el parlamento y ojalá este tipo de políticas no lleguen a aprobarse”.

Camila Bustamante, de la Secretaría ecología y medioambiente, explicó que las últimas dos semanas se llevó a cabo un proceso plebiscitario en el que hubo un 92% de rechazo a este tratado el cual, considera, precarizará la vida, ya que “limita la capacidad del estado a regular, por ejemplo, en el caso de Puchuncaví-Quintero si, luego de aprobarse el TPP-11, llegamos a pedir una ley en función de disminuir las emisiones de esas empresas, no se podría porque mermaría sus expectativas de ganancias”, declaró la estudiante.

Durante la jornada, distintas organizaciones medioambientales y sociales dieron su apoyo a los estudiantes de la Universidad de Chile y felicitaron las actividades realizadas por SECMA y la FECH para concientizar sobre el TPP-11.

Francisca Fernández, del Comité socioambiental feminista 8M, considera que los resultados del plebiscito dan cuenta de la lucha que se quiere visibilizar y  un proceso que se ha logrado, “es un hito haber logrado instalar el tema del TPP-11 en la ciudadanía; los tratados de libre comercio no es una temática de la que los movimientos, organizaciones y menos la sociedad civil en general  hayan tenido una postura, entonces una de la gracia es visibilizar, socializar y simplificar lo que implica el TPP-11.
