Integrantes de la plataforma Chile Mejor Sin TPP se reúnen con la CUT
La tarde del 21 de julio, integrantes de la plataforma Chile Mejor Sin TPP se reunieron con la presidenta de la Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT), Bárbara Figueroa y Claudio Urrutia, consejero nacional de la CUT y presidente de la Federación de Sindicatos Unilever. Por parte de la Plataforma asistieron Camila Montecinos (CLOC), Bárbara Rojas Labrín (Fenpruss), Natalia Ramírez (Izquierda Libertaria) y Carlos Figueroa (Revolución Democrática).
Durante la cita ambas organizaciones expusieron sus preocupaciones ante el ingreso al Parlamento del Tratado Transpacífico de Cooperación Económica por los perjuicios que traería la ratificación de este tratado de libre comercio en diferentes aspectos.
Urrutia fue crítico con los gobiernos chilenos que han impuesto un modelo de desarrollo para el país sin considerar a la ciudadanía, además de destacar que la CUT nunca ha estado de acuerdo, ha sido parte de la negociación o ha sido firmante de los más de 100 acuerdos de libre comercio que tiene Chile. También criticó la terminología liviana en cuanto a lo vinculante de los tratados internacionales sobre obligaciones laborales y la carencia de un diagnóstico claro de sus consecuencias.
Esta situación se repite con el TPP y, según se afirmó, no puede negarse el oscurantismo que lo ha caracterizado y cuya negociación ha sido protagonizada por los Estados y los empresarios. La CUT no ha tenido ninguna invitación del Gobierno para participar en las conversaciones sobre el Transpacific Partnership y muestró su preocupación por las implicancias que podría tener en las ya precarizadas condiciones laborales.
Bárbara Figueroa reconoció que no está en la agenda de la CUT el punto “TPP”. Sin embargo, considera que aún están a tiempo y que no pueden omitir un pronunciamiento, sobre la base del respeto y consulta a la orgánica de la Central.
Finalmente, se les extendió la invitación a participar en la plataforma Chile Mejor Sin TPP y así vincularse activamente en acciones y orientaciones conjuntas.
Preocupación del mundo sindical
A principios de este mes la CUT publicó en la sección noticias de su sitio web el artículo “Claves para entender el Acuerdo Transpacífico de Cooperación Económica (TPP) y cómo impacta a los trabajadores”.
En él detalla la composición de naciones integrantes, la importancia económica debido al porcentaje del PIB mundial que representan los países miembros, así como la importancia que tiene el TPP para Estados Unidos y su lucha en la disputa económica, pero sobre todo geopolítica contra China.
Pero lo realmente preocupante es la falta de claridad respecto a las repercusiones en el mundo laboral y el proteccionismo a las empresas en desmedro de sus trabajadores.
“A pesar de que Washington defiende que el TPP establece los ‘más altos estándares laborales’ a las naciones implicadas, los principales sindicatos han criticado tanto el secretismo de las negociaciones como lo que consideran concesiones problemáticas que solo beneficiarán a las grandes corporaciones. El pacto abarca desde el derecho de los trabajadores a crear un sindicato hasta requerimientos de seguridad, salario mínimo, límite de horas trabajadas o protecciones contra la discriminación”.
Por último, se detallan los elementos preocupantes para el mundo del trabajo CUT CHILE:
- Ambigüedad en la terminología
- Condiciones aceptables de trabajo
- Debilitamiento de las leyes para cumplir un mínimo aceptable
