Senador Letelier sobre TPP-11:  No necesitamos profundizar en este tipo de inserción sino debatir un nuevo modelo de desarrollo no extractivista

Yo creo que no hay posibilidad de cerrar la brecha en nuestro país si no reformamos lo que estamos haciendo, no podemos dedicarnos solo a exportar recursos naturales. El TPP-11 nos lleva a ese camino, declaró el parlamentario socialista. 

Luego de que el Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Andrés Allamand, declarara su intención de presionar al Senado para que apruebe el TPP-11 y el Presidente Piñera en conversación con Joe Biden mencionara la relevancia del tratado, la ciudadanía movilizada no tardó en reaccionar y exigir a los parlamentarios que se posicionen en contra de este nuevo intento de reflotar el TPP-11 por parte del gobierno.

En este contexto, el Senador Socialista Juan Pablo Letelier, en conversación con la Radio Universidad de Chile, declaró que no es partidario de continuar avanzando con la aprobación del TPP-11, debido a que su ratificación significa continuar con un modelo de desarrollo extractivista. 

“El modelo chileno de exportaciones de inserción en el mundo, es un modelo básicamente extractivista: no solamente en los minerales, en la celulosa, en los salmones, en la agricultura, que es muy intensivo el uso de paquetes tecnológicos de pesticidas que sobreexplota la tierra, el mal uso del agua, todo esto es parte de un modelo de organización económica que extrae recursos naturales y los exporta con poco valor agregado”, señaló Letelier.

Asimismo, el Senador por la Región de O’ Higgins, declaró: “Yo creo que no hay posibilidad de cerrar la brecha en nuestro país si no reformamos lo que estamos haciendo, no podemos dedicarnos solo a exportar recursos naturales. El TPP-11 nos lleva a ese camino”. 

Respecto al proceso constituyente y el modelo de desarrollo  chileno sostenido por los tratados de libre comercio firmados, el parlamentario manifestó que: “No necesitamos avanzar en este tratado ya tenemos una inserción internacional suficiente, hoy lo que necesitamos en vez de profundizar ese tipo de inserción, es abrir el debate, en el marco de la constituyente, sobre un nuevo modelo de desarrollo de nuestro país y yo espero no sea uno extractivista y que sea uno con mayor valor agregado, más aún en un mundo que abre otras oportunidades que no sea vender nuestros recursos baratos a una economía globalizada”.
