El Senado “se pone en la línea de respetar la soberanía popular y la opinión de las grandes mayorías del país que han rechazado el TPP-11.
El miércoles 6 de enero el Gobierno de Piñera ordenó al Senado dar “Discusión inmediata” al proyecto que aprueba el Tratado Integral y Progresivo de Asociación Transpacífico o TPP-11. Frente a esta iniciativa que pretendía que el acuerdo quedara despachado en tres días, se inició una campaña ciudadana que llamaba a la presidenta del Senado, Adriana Muñoz, a no poner en tabla de discusión el TPP-11, ya que está fuera de las prioridades de Chile.
Pese a las presiones del Gobierno, el vicepresidente del Senado, Rabindranath Quinteros, confirmó el día lunes que junto a la presidenta de la instancia, Adriana Muñoz, decidieron no poner en tabla el proyecto del TPP-11. Esta decisión se debe a que no están resueltas las dudas y reparos que la comunidad nacional tiene frente a este tratado, declaró el Senador Quinteros.
Desde la Plataforma Chile Mejor sin TLC saludan este gesto de la mesa directiva del Senado, ya que significa que, a diferencia del gobierno, están en sintonía con las prioridades que la ciudadanía exige desde la rebelión social de octubre.
“Valoramos mucho que la mesa del senado haya negado la posibilidad de poner en tabla el TPP-11 porque por fin, después de más de un año, uno de los poderes del Estado está escuchando de verdad lo que la gente ha pedido en la calle”, afirma María Cecilia Bartholin de Antimafia Dos Mil y Chile Mejor sin TLC.
Esteban Silva de la Fundación Constituyente XXI, opina que “al tomar la decisión de no agendar la votación del TPP-11, como pretende un gobierno minoritario como el de Sebastián Piñera”, el Senado “se pone en la línea de respetar la soberanía popular y la opinión de las grandes mayorías del país que han rechazado el TPP-11”, declara Silva.
“Es importante que se siga este ejemplo de que los parlamentarios escuchen primero a la gente, que son sus mandatarios”, finaliza Bartholin.
